Sewer systems must be watertight to protect both the soil and the groundwater from contamination from sewage. Pipes must be tested during the construction phase, after completion and over the entire operating period. The test method and the test medium (air/water) are selected on the basis of applicable standards and depending on each specific case. Leak testing is carried out either on the entire system or separately in individual areas.
